GEM Journal 4 – Screen Sense Program
24/9/25, 2:00 am

Welcome to the fourth edition of The GEM Journal.
Why Screen Balance Matters?
Screens are part of modern family life, but balance is essential. At GEM we created our Screen Sense Program to support families with clear calm routines that take the stress out of screen time.
What We Do at GEM?
Children experience predictable screen free zones in their day, with emphasis on play, creativity and connection. Screens become a small part of life, not the main event.

How Families Can Support
At home, balance comes from small changes. Device free zones, predictable routines, and quick swaps from a short video to a short game all help create calm and connection.
Checklist for Families
Establish one or two device free zones, such as the dining table or bedrooms.
Offer a play prompt when screen time ends.
Model balance by enjoying your own device free times.
